For you yourselves know, brothers, that our coming to you was not in vain. (1 Thessalonians 2:1 -- ESV)
The Christians of Thessalonika know that when Paul and Silas came to their city, that coming was not an empty, pointless, purposeless arrival. There was a result from their coming to that city. In the next few verses, we will see those results, but maybe not in the way that one would think.
